U.S. MILITARY CHIEF CONFIRMS ISRAEL UNABLE TO STRIKE ISRAEL ‘UNILATERALLY’

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said that it would be impossible for Israel to unilaterally attack Iran. Any such attack would require the full support of the US. Israel needs America’s resources to supply fuel for such a raid as well as ordnance, intelligence and back-up support to counter any Iranian retaliation given that, unlike Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007, Iran will not accept an attack by Israel on its nuclear facilities lying down.

Arutz Sheva, a right-wing Israeli newspaper, reported that former US military chief Admiral William Fallon has confirmed that Israel would not be able to ‘go at Iran alone’ against Iran. That, however, is not to say that Netanyahu won’t take a punt on forcing America's hand by initiating a ‘unilateral’ strike in the hope that the US will quickly, albeit perhaps reluctantly, enjoin Israel in its war against Iran. Obama, at least, can then never be accused of having instigated such a war.

It’s very quiet out there at the moment and it seems that this is worrying at least one Israeli commentator. The Israeli elections are now only days away but how far away an Israeli renewed propaganda onslaught against Iran is could be anybody’s guess but, rest assured, it will follow soon after the elections.

Damian,

Good to see you about in the new year mate.

The currest issue of 'Air forces monthly' on the newsagents shelf here has an article by a certain 'Dr Dave Sloggett' (I'm still not sure he's a real person), who usually trots out all sorts of gloomy stories about all sorts of supposed threats that are lurking out there (one day he's claim the 'Ice Warriors' from Doctor Who are real), did come out with something helpful for once by noting the Iranian 'Witness 129' drone they entered Israel from Lebanon and got reasonably close to Dimona in the Negev.
Sloggett notes that the message is that if Israel etc go for Iran's nuclear sites, then Iran can go for Israeli's nuclear site too.
Barrage of IRBM's, perhaps even more drones are the options.
That said, I think more needs to be said about Dimona and how its hardly ever mentioned despite it too being 'illegal'.

All the best mate,

Nylon Shirt

G'day NS

Drone technology is getting cheaper and cheaper. Airframes are relatively easy to build, engines readily available and basic control and guidance systems cheap and easy to configure. One can almost 'launch and forget' when these things a programmed to fly via commercially available GPS set-ups. All one needs is a warhead and one has an instant cheap guided missile.

Who needs expensive research and development in RPV technolgy when it's aready out there? Hundreds of ordinary people every weekend around the planet spend a lot of time flying very sophisticated remote controlled model aircraft. It's all there. Sooner or later Israel and their allies are going to get back what they dish out to their adversaries.
