ISRAEL GEARS UP FOR THE FINAL CONFRONTATION.

In May 2009 I wrote that Netanyahu was itching to find an excuse to find a way of kicking off a war against Iran and what better way than to try what his predecessor, Ehud Olmert, tried in 2006 – provoke Hamas in the Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon by getting them to retaliate with minor incidents to Israeli border provocations and then use this as an excuse to launch massive attacks against both.

Then last Monday I wrote of how Israel was provoking Palestinians in the Gaza by firing on Gazan farmers in an effort to goad Palestinian fighters to launch rockets into Israel which the Israelis would then use as a casus belli to launch airstrikes against targets in the Gaza Strip.

Then today we get news that Israel has provoked Lebanon by crossing over the Israel-Lebanon border via a cherry picker lift that put an Israel soldier over the border fence into Lebanese territory. The Israelis were spotted and Lebanese regular troops opened fire killing one Israeli officer and wounding a soldier. Despite the fact that Israel had clearly put a soldier into Lebanon, Netanyahu has said that it is Lebanon that was responsible for the border clash. Three Lebanese soldiers as well as a Lebanese journalist were killed in the subsequent air strike and artillery bombardment.

This latest border provocation and Israel’s continued overflying of Lebanon by jet fighter aircraft together with the increased Gaza provocations, (there was another incident today Wednesday, 4 August 2010, in the Gaza when a Palestinian was killed after Israelis shelled the area near Khan Younis), rather than being isolated incidents, seem to be well co-ordinated and carefully thought-out raids designed specifically to provoke and instigate a war against both that can be quickly escalated into a major war that would pull in Iran and the US.

The increased frequency of incidents with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and with Hezbollah and now with regular Lebanese forces in Lebanon, together with the increasingly aggressive rhetoric toward Iran over its so-called ‘nuclear weapons program’, demonstrates Israel’s intent and determination to foment a war with Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah.

For years Israel has been itching to find an excuse to kick off the final confrontation and every time Israel acts they push the prospect of such a war ever closer to the edge. With the increase in incidents to date it would seem that Israel does not have to push that much harder to push it right over the edge.

There will be no good ending to such a horrific event. It is up to the peoples of the world to say ‘no’ – and we need to say it now before it’s too late.

The Lebanese Army admits it fired first, irresponsibly risking an all-out war:

Meanwhile, UNIFIL confirms that Israeli troops in Israeli territory were attacked "south of the international borderline"

As the image shows, the cherry picker was lifted over Israel's first fence, which itself sits 100 metres behind the international Blue Line border:

A curious question that also needs to be asked. Who summoned the Lebanese journalist pack to be present at the scene before the Lebanese Army (by its own admission) started opening fire?

did israel kill hariri?
According to the (French) DGSE officer, Israel and its American backers wanted to
blame Syria for the assassination of the popular Lebanese leader in
order to blame Syria for the attack thus forcing the popular Lebanese
revolt that saw the withdrawal of Syrian forces. That
... left Lebanon defenseless for the ‘Clean Break’ attack launched by
Israel, with US support, against Hezbollah and Lebanon’s infrastructure. WMR was one of the first to report Israeli and American involvement in the assassination of Hariri

Clearly, the most important piece of information delivered in Nasrallah’s address tonight (click here for the YouTube video, here for an Arabic transcription of the major points, and here for an English summary) was the promise that he would return to the subject of the STL indictment next Monday, August 9th, at 8:30 PM. This will be the second press conference in a two-part series (click here for my commentary on Part I), and the Hizbullah Secretary-General promised that he would provide conclusive evidence that Israel was behind the murder of Rafiq al-Hariri.

Oh, I don't know. One possible good ending would be the downfall of the genocidal Zionist regime in Palestine and the return of the Palestinian exiles to their ancestral homeland. That's the outcome I'm ardently hoping for, if the Zionists commit what I trust will be the fatal error of starting another war.

Well, Peter, the text is about provocation. It is about concentrating tanks at the border for about a year or so and then cutting ONE tree as an urgent security measure. Why should an army not even capable of defending their own country provoke a war that will likely spread across the region, make world economy collapse and possibly start WWIII?

Too late, we are moments of a NEW BIG WAR III...
