One has to wonder how come it’s OK for Israel to openly receive boatloads of jet fuel and munitions as well as attack aircraft and helicopter gunships from the US so that they can use it to create the kind of carnage that is now going on in the Gaza Strip, yet the Gazans are apparently not allowed (at least by the West’s reckoning) to take in anything that can in any way be used to defend themselves against the Israelis.
The Western media make it sound as though Hamas are committing some kind of horrendous crime by obtaining armaments with which to defend themselves from Israeli aggression while the Israelis are openly being given handouts from their allies as though it is heroic that the West should be seen supplying Israel with the means to slaughter the Gazans.
If it is OK for the Israelis to demand at the upcoming ceasefire talks in Egypt that Hamas be disarmed and deprived of the ability to arm themselves then there really should be no reason why Hamas should not make the same demands of the Israelis. Of course, the Israelis aren’t going to let that happen, so, by the same virtue, why should Hamas accede to Israeli demands?
The peoples of the world are demanding that the Israelis cease their attacks immediately and completely withdraw from the Gaza. The governments of the peoples of the world are simply not listening. They are ignoring the carnage and are allowing it to continue by virtue of stalling for time with the bureaucracy of arranging meetings. They are as criminally responsible for the carnage and death as the Israelis are.
The US and the UN must act immediately to end the carnage.
The binational One State solution is the ONLY solution for long-term peace.
UPDATE
Reuters is reporting that Israel is interested in the ‘principle’ of the Egyptian proposals for a ceasefire and will be sending an envoy to discuss how it might be implemented. Reuters added, however, that ‘that may take several days’ and that in the mean time Israel will continue with their operations in the Gaza.
The Gaza cannot afford several more days of carnage while the leaders dither and waste time. The US must insist on an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza.
