My observation was more about how stupid Bush is rather than about any political repercussions that may result from Bush’s actions.Damian Lataanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06886295381135372084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7708970.post-1172494943183591542007-02-26T23:32:00.000+10:302007-02-26T23:32:00.000+10:30Isn't this an implicit suggestion that the US shou...Isn't this an implicit suggestion that the US should support regimes that do not protect the rights of their citizens in order to prevent the greater evil? Cut that off and you’re really asking for trouble.

Add to that the fact that much of the US money goes to pay off senior Pakistan military officials and those within the Pakistani Intelligence services that barely keeps Pakistan on side with the US and, if that is cut off, you have real problems. In other words, cutting off the money could be the tipping point for those within the Pakistani government to support the Taliban – just as it did before 9/11.Damian Lataanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06886295381135372084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7708970.post-1172481259197514802007-02-26T19:44:00.000+10:302007-02-26T19:44:00.000+10:30Can you expand on your thoughts on the studpidity ...Can you expand on your thoughts on the studpidity of threatening to withdraw aid from Pakistan and Pakistan's nuclear weapons? It seems that you are suggesting that withdrawing US aid will leave those weapons somehow more available to terrorists. is this right?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
