tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7708970.post1106593447026865729..comments2024-01-25T12:33:03.851+10:30Comments on Telling the History of the Twenty-First Century as it Really Is: THE US–AUSTRALIAN ALLIANCE: MYTH AND REALITY.Damian Lataanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06886295381135372084noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7708970.post-17352153902250067782011-03-11T15:48:09.910+10:302011-03-11T15:48:09.910+10:30This is a most welcome argument Damian and I thank...This is a most welcome argument Damian and I thank you for airing what I think the majority or Aussies are thinking today as a result of Gillard's 'performance'.<br />For my part as an Australian who increasingly no longer recongnises my own country, I feel utterly humiliated asa result of Gillard's 'performance', suich that I struggle to find words that are adequate to convey my shame and depression at where my country has slipped down to.<br />Tellingly, everyone I know where this has been raised, be it at home, work or socially once the awkwardness of broaching the issue is done, then gushes identical embarrassment, humiliating and 'head in their hands' frustration at Gillard and how the damage done again to Australia at the hands of monsters like her.<br /><br />Frankly, Gillards vision depicts that of the political class far removed from the public and getting wider.<br />As Romana on Doctor Who one remarked 'a sociopathetic abscess'!.<br />Verily, I confidently predict that the next election result will be similar to the last where 'a pox on both of your houses' occurs as the political class no longer represent the thinkng of the public here.<br />Thanks for the links to the historical corrections, at least more people are questioning these myths nowadays and I thank you Damian for this extra reading.<br /><br />As time goes on, I keep hearing this mantra of 'shard values' that American apologists trot out when trying to compare them with Australians.<br />Honestly, I've never been able to work out what these supposed 'shared values' actually are as I can't see any similarities between the yanks and us.<br />Can some one please elucidate?.<br /><br />Without a doubt Americans are arrogant, loud, stupid, self important, patronising, vapid, prone to exaggerating and far removed from the Australians I know in my daily life, be it at the pub, at the cricket or my workmates.<br /><br />I truely fear for the future of this country if the agenda propagated by the likes of Gillard and those like her (all the political class) comes to pass.<br />I've even heard people openly talking as a result of this week that we now need some form of popular uprising or revolution as is happening in the mid east, a clean sweep and start afresh and in doing so give our American oppressors and their proxies here the flick once and for all.<br /><br />Unlike Damian, I now think we should abandon this lop-sided and artificial 'alliance' and begin the process of de-americanising our nation.<br /><br />Those who claim we need their protection and 'intelligence' obviously hasn't thought through just how many 'intelligence' failures the U.S makes with subsequent dire consequences nor understands just how modern defence equipment from non American overseas nations is these days.<br />The truth is for decades now, had we shown more discernment in our defence planning, we'd be independent by now (decades in fact), as we finally stand on our own feet by simply shopping around and developing our own advanced capabilities.<br />Does any simpleton really think that the F-35 jet will compete with the Sukhoi T-50 for example?.<br />We're not even willing to try and experiment with new ideas any more, such is our stagnation as a nation now.<br />All can be blamed at the hands of the political class and our American suppressors who make sure this 'friendship' is based on bullying and our 'leaders' embarrassing timidity.<br />Thanks for your critique Damian.<br /><br />Nylon ShirtAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
